Hello. I'm Stacey.

I was born and raised in the village of Walworth by my realtor mother, Ruta, who is a major part of The Cashmere Compass and it's everyday operations.

I grew up on beautiful Geneva Lake and knew it would always be a part of my life. What I didn't know is that I would create my own store in the very bank where I opened my first checking account as a teenager. I've learned life has a weird way of throwing you unexpected surprises!

I went to college in San Diego and loved every second of being in a warm, big city. After spending nearly a decade in sunny San Diego, I returned home and turned my event planning career into store owner/interior decorator. My whole life I was told I had a knack for styling and decorating. As I got older, I started to see that maybe that was true.

Enter The Cashmere Compass! It first began as a lifestyle blog as a fun, creative outlet but then it became an actual storefront on March 25th, 2017! After a cold, dreary winter of renovations, TCC 1.0 was open and it was a dream come true!

We survived 2020 thanks to our amazing customers who showed up on social media and curbside to support us and after a difficult year, for some reason, we decided we needed to expand! The stars aligned because we didn't have to move far. We were sad like everyone to see McCullough's close, but it was a sign that our expansion was supposed to happen. After another cold, hard working winter of renovations, we opened TCC 2.0 almost exactly four years to the date from our first opening!

It's my passion to find and create beauty in the world no matter where it is. In fact, when I was doing some major soul searching to figure out if I really wanted to open my own store, I came across this quote from Elsie de Wolfe (one of the first female interior designers), " I'm going to make everything around me beautiful- that will be my life. " I took that as the sign I needed; I bought the framed quote and it's been behind my front counter ever since.
